Being in the Present Moment
Being in the present means…being in the present mentally. In that way it resembles mindfulness. Being in the present if you’re working towards your goal(s) means you will be focused on the tasks at hand. You will know this is not happening when you suddenly have a thought like “Oh, I need to get back to what I was working on,” or “I better not be thinking about that right now or I’ll never get this done,” or “My God, can’t I get rid of that thought already?!”
Being in the present, mindfulness, and meditation all require the mind to be focused. The more time spent in focused attention, the better it is for your overall wellbeing. Recent research in the area of mindfulness and mindfulness-like activities is revealing this. So, not only will present oriented activities increase the likelihood of you achieving your goals more quickly, but your overall health will be better.
See you next time.
