Getting started is always the hardest part. But once you’re in action you’ll begin to see that the life you want begins to take shape.

Dig your heels in…. and get moving. What a paradox!

  • Keep a daily diary of your activities for two weeks.

You need a baseline to know how you’re spending your time. You’ll be surprised to see that what you think you’re doing when you write it day by day is often different from what you think it is when you don’t write it down and think about it after time has passed.

  • Review your diary at the end of each day and highlight the activities that you absolutely know give you pleasure.

It’s important to be honest with yourself. The things that you are going to say give you pleasure must really give you pleasure.. They must not be things that you think SHOULD give you pleasure. You need not be thrilled with what you like, but you definitely can’t be neutral.

  • At the end of two weeks, start increasing the frequency of the activities you like. The ones you don’t like will automatically decrease in number. It’s much more difficult to stop doing something you don’t like than to do more frequently the things you do like.

If for any reason you can’t maintain the daily diary, just consider that you’re taking a break. As soon as you can, get back to the daily diary writing. Remember that building a new habit takes time. And remember as well that building the new habit is worth it because you will achieve the life you want.
